A great UHY client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 3 – 5 years of general ledger experience, a solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles, advanced excel experience, and an ability to automate processes.

The Assistant Controller role is an onsite position.

Assistant Controller General Responsibilities:

• Month-end close and other accounting activities
• General accounting such as fixed assets, pre-paid, accruals
• Various financial analysis
• Account Reconciliations and journal entries
• General Ledger processing
• Chart of Accounts Maintenance
• Assist with annual review process and interaction with the external auditors
• Assist with budgets/forecasting and annual planning processes
• Regular communication and interaction with all levels of management regarding financial matters
• Process improvement and automation
• Other accounting/finance duties as assigned

Assistant Controller Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
• 5 years general accounting experience required
• Experience in a supervisory/management position an asset
• Thorough understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
• Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers, and accounting
• Advanced excel skills
• Experience with accounting process automation
• Very strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work on site in Buchanan MI 5 days per week
• Self-motivated, ability to initiate and follow tasks through to completion
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and precision with numbers
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask
• Ability to work with, and maintain, strong confidentiality
• Ability to foster good employee/management relations, and build a strong team effort to fulfill customers’ expectations
