UHS of Delaware, Inc. is Hiring a SURGICAL CLIN REVIEWER - RN-STHS HEART HOSPITAL-BARIATRIC CLIN-FULL-TIME Near MCALLEN, TX

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bariatric Surgical Clinical Reviewer’s chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Quality Improvement Program’s (MBSAQIP) Data Registry Platform. This task is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry of 100 percent of bariatric procedures performed at the center in the ACS Bariatric Data Registry Platform. The BSCR works closely with the members of the bariatric and general surgery departments to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified. Participates in Bariatric Team Meetings and duties as assigned. Provides education to staff and patients as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer prior experience in a Bariatric Surgery program.
  • The ability to learn and utilize new software and Web applications for data generation and report gernation.
  • The ability to track down information through various sources such as medical records, surgery clinics, social security death index, direct patient contact, accounts payable, and legal counsel. The candidate should have some experience gathering information in a complex hospital system environment.
  • The ability to identify opportunities to report bariatric data to relevant groups or meetings (for example, infection control, quality management, and administration). The candidate should have some experience sharing information across functions.
  • Must have experience in an acute-care hospital environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an RN, preferably in Bariatric or a reporting unit RN position.
  • Must be able to work in a high pressure environment subject to multiple and changing priorities and demands.
  • A thorough understanding of the clinical aspect of patient care with a strong connection to the weight loss surgery patient population.
  • Must have exceptional oral and written skills.
  • Mut be able to speak, read and write Spanish fluently.
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
  • EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  • Certified Bariatric Nurse preferred
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred.
  • Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program) – please check all that apply:

    BCLS/CPR

    Must be current upon hire and thereafter

    ACLS

    If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;

    nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    PALS

    or

    ENPC

    If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;

    nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    NRP

    If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    TNCC

    If required in unit, must have and maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    STABLE

    If required in unit, must obtain within 12 months of hire,

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    CPI

    If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

    SAMA

    If required in unit, - obtain within 30 days of hire
