Responsibilities

The Vines Hospital, located in Ocala, FL is a premier behavioral health facility offering individualized mental health and addiction treatment to adults in a secure and private setting. Our services for individuals include specialty programs for active-duty military and Veterans. Our services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. We offer acute psychiatric, detox, and PTSD treatment.

Our Location:

We are located in picturesque Marion County, FL. The county is known as the Horse Capital of the World. Enjoy the outdoors at one of the county’s serene parks, which includes wonderful hiking trails, river rafting, and tubing. Watch the county’s wildlife and view the scenery by taking a horseback ride through one of the area’s riding trails. Considered the heart of Florida, the beautiful region is centrally located within hours of many activities. Just a drive away from some of the state’s amusement parks or beautiful Florida beaches. The county is less than two hours away from some of the state’s large metropolitan areas. From young professionals to a growing family, the area has plenty of activities for every individual.

The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, coordinates and leads recreation therapy activities as well as contributes to treatment team meetings on all units. The Recreation Therapist will ensure the program is appropriate to the needs and interest and capacities of patients and is directed toward restoring and maintaining optimal levels of physical and psychosocial functioning. Responsibilities also include assessing each patient within seventy-two (72) hours of admission and completing daily progress notes on patient’s participation toward recreation goals

Qualifications

 
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Recreation Therapy

Two (2) years of experience providing Recreation Therapy in a psychiatric setting with adult population or a Long Term Care setting preferred.

Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required. Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care training including appropriate use of seclusion and restraints within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in a restraining process.

Working knowledge of recreational therapy programming. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must have driving record that meets The Vines Hospital driving policy

Extensive sitting, standing, walking, reading, lifting over (50 lbs.) pounds and participation in active physical recreational program. Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Recreation Therapist, Director of Clinical Services and Chief Executive Officer.
