We strive to provide quality mental health treatment and addiction treatment services in the area. Located on Saint Simons Island, Ga., Saint Simons By-The-Sea’s serene island setting ensures privacy and anonymity, enabling the patient to concentrate on recovery. Our hospital is conveniently located within driving distance of Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA, and other surrounding cities in the South Georgia and Northern Florida region. Saint Simons By-The-Sea is seeking a LPN for 7p-7a shift. This position administers nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients; maintains a therapeutic relationship with all patients; and performs tasks and duties within the scope of their license

Some responsibilities include, but are not limited too:

• Manages medication of patients by ensuring physician orders are implemented, evaluated and properly documented in each patient’s medication record.
• Administers proper medication to each patient in a timely manner following the guidelines governing the administration of medication by the state Board of Nursing. Recognizes and reports any abnormal dosages to the Nursing Supervisor.
• Observes, assesses, and reports the patient’s signs, symptoms, and behaviors and any subsequent treatment and/or interventions and records same in the medical record according to facility policy.
• Provides individual instruction to patients and their families concerning medications, health, and medical needs.
• Contributes to the evaluation of the responses of individuals or groups to nursing interventions administered by self and others by documenting and communicating appropriate data and by contributing to the modification of the strategy of care on the basis of evaluation.
• Assures cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned area and proactively assists in all security, maintenance, and safety functions as required for the overall facility to help maintain the physical environment to assure the safety of patients and staff.
• Complies with all company policies, procedures, and other regulatory requirements and reports any known or suspected violations to the supervisor or through other means identified in company policy. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records per program guidelines.
• Ensures the rights of all patients are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and correct physical restraint methods when necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements include:

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.

Must be licensed, as a practical nurse in the state where the facility is located.

Experience in mental health field preferred but not required.

Must be CPR certified.
