UFG is Hiring an UW Support Supervisor Near Rapids, IA

UFG is currently hiring for an Underwriting Support Supervisor who will supervise the Underwriting Support professionals and ensure that work is processed accurately and according to service standards set per department within assigned authority. Address any problems or concerns regarding workflow, personnel, or service to the correct people. May be required to hold a premium level and territory to stay current on systems and rating.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize daily/monthly reports to ensure expected work output and quality standards. Ensure that department service and quality standards are met.
  • Complete KPI scorecard for direct reports monthly and utilize the information for coaching and development conversations and Performance Excellence.
  • Monitor workflows within ImageRight system/Policy Center.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure consistency is achieved throughout the team regarding established processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that work is processed accurately and according to service standards set per department within assigned authority.
  • Stay up to date on company procedures, policies, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead weekly Team Huddle meeting to provide updates on procedures, discuss any necessary items, and ensure adequate coverage and service standards are met.
  • Research and troubleshoot system issues and strive to standardize procedures with a OneUFG mindset.
  • Lead or participate in the interview and selection process of new employees.
  • Coordinate the training process of all new and existing support professionals.
  • Attend Employee Led 1:1 meetings with direct reports and prepare to coach and develop employees.
  • Lead 1:1 meetings with Underwriting Support leadership to address issues, advocate for employee needs, and discuss initiatives and projects.
  • Prepare and present in Underwriting Support meetings when applicable.
  • Address and manage personnel issues with Underwriting Support leadership and Human Resources.
  • Monitor expenses and research expense items and give approval for invoices for payment as needed.
  • Collaborate cohesively with all other Support leadership to ensure centralization and unification of the department.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Associates degree preferred.

Certifications and Designations:

  • Employees are expected to participate in continuing education throughout their careers.
  • Certificate of General Insurance (AINS) and Supervisory Management (SM) designations required
  • Pursuit of other insurance designations or courses.

Experience:

  • 3 years of insurance experience.
  • 2 years of experience in an underwriting support role.
  • Tableau, Excel, Project Management software/tools knowledge helpful
  • Experience in bringing large projects to successful completion, including experience at every level of the project

  • Strong leadership skills: ability to provide direction, motivation, mentorship, coaching and development to employees.
  • General management skills necessary for planning, organizing and prioritizing workloads.

  • Delegate’s responsibility and authority as appropriate; provides necessary direction and removes obstacles to help them get work done.
  • Continued achievement of Key Performance Indicators for enterprise, department, and personal development.
  • Display a high level of professionalism.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment with standard office equipment operation, including phone work, video conference and collaborative tools, typing, scanning, copying, emails, etc. Outlook and MS Teams
  • Extended periods of computer work (6 hours daily) and work with various office technology.
  • Ability to focus for extended periods.
  • Extended hours (beyond regular business hours), when needed to meet deadlines or demands.
  • Overnight travel as needed
