Position Title: Industry Trainer/Curriculum Developer

Department: Workforce Development

Reports to: Associate Vice President of Workforce Development

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development, the Technical Instructor is dedicated to nurturing the occupational skill development and pre-employment training and professional growth of our program participants through innovative training programs. At the direction of the AVP of Workforce Development work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and/or other technical experts to create curriculum with the following components: Course outlines, Course syllabi, Lesson plans, Classroom activities, PowerPoint presentations, Multimedia supplemental materials such as podcasts, webinars, etc. As a key player in our learning and development strategy, you will create and deliver technical and non-technical training modules to enhance the skills of our program participants to create a pipeline of skilled candidates to meet various industry sector workforce demands.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative work environment with a focus on continuous learning and career pathways for program participants.
  • Create and deliver training programs aligned with the Workforce Development Career Pathway’s learning strategy.
  • Develop video scripts and voiceover content for online learning initiatives.
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction to various audiences.
  • Mentor and coach team members in workforce development programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop curriculum and e-learning content and technical procedures.
  • Generate performance reports for program participants/internal students based on exams.
  • Establishing procedures and policies and providing guidance for most of the training assignments, allowing some discretion in selecting the most appropriate approach. Presenting material in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents.
  • Leading in development of technical training presentation and evaluating methodologies and materials including instructor guides, student handouts, audio/visual aids, and other training criteria.
  • Reviewing training practices and developing "best practices" for incorporation into curriculum.
  • Assessing onsite conditions to create realistic training scenarios.
  • Reviewing other certified training providers to ensure appropriate fit.

  • Acts in a Human Resources professional manner at all times by maintaining appropriate boundaries with UCAN employees and maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Reports to work, meetings, training, and job related activities prepared and as scheduled
  • Demonstrates openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and coworkers
  • Understands and supports UCAN’s standard of cultural proficiency and strives to meet it
  • Participates in department and agency committees, as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as needed or assigned

Education/Job Experience/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Resources or a related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of human service or training experience required.
  • Experience delivering youth and adult learning workshops.

Special Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong organization and planning skills
  • Previous experience with data base management
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong presentation, training and group facilitation Skills
    • Ability to maintain strict Confidentiality
    • Strong writing skills, curriculum development
