Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting in all areas of meal preparation and service as well as and general cleaning, organization and sanitation of all food service serving utensils, equipment and storage areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Cooks with meal preparation as requested.
• Set-up steam tables and salad bar and serve food at all meals.
• Washing of all cooking and eating utensils used in the service and preparation of meals and snacks.
• Maintains the general cleanliness of the dining areas, before during and after scheduled meals, including the set-up and wiping of tables, counters, steam table and salad bar.
• Assists in the cleaning and santization of the kitchen area and food preparation work surfaces.
• Assists in preparation and packing of food for lunches, snacks, picnics, and other special events as needed, including decoration and clean-up.
• Performs other duties as my be necessary and requested by the cooks and/or Food Service Supervisor.
• Interact with clients in a professional and therapeutic manner.

Education/Job Experience/Certification:

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent
• State or City Sanitation certificate required or completion of such certificate within 90 days of hire
• One (1) year experience in related work.

Special Knowledge and Qualifications:

• Must be able to operate a dishwasher, meat slicer, coffee maker, and related food service equipment in a safe efficient manner.
• Must be able to properly lift 50 pounds.

Work environment/hazards:

• Works in all areas of the kitchen with possible wet and/or slippery floors
• Exposure and use of sharp knives and hot equipment and utensils.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals
• Contact with clients
