DESCRIPTION

The OR Nurse Manager maintains 24 hour accountability in planning, managing, controlling, and organizing comprehensive, safe, efficient, and high quality patient care. The Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily operations and clinical practice of the assigned service areas. Establishes and maintains standards of care and unit policies and procedures. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model UCSD Health's core values and mission statement. Adheres to the ANA Nurse Administration Scope & Standards of Practice.

This position monitors daily operations and overall function of the East Campus Operating Room Department. Oversees staff while maintaining budget and all Nurse Manager functions according to the job description. This position will work closely with leadership from the Hillcrest and Jacobs Medical Center Perioperative Services departments.

Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing is required.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Seven (7 ) or more years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) years of recent Operating Room RN experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Recent leadership experience. Proven hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.

  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.

  • Proven knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.

  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).

  • Three (3 ) or more years of recent supervisory or management experience in a large, acute care hospital.

  • Experience scrubbing and circulating.

  • Lean Six Sigma training.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $124,400 - $243,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.58 - $116.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
