Position Summary:
The incumbent functions independently providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Gynecogical Oncology Service in H.H. Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.Functions as the primary contact for patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medication/chemo treatment and other complex aspects of the plan of care. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure & surgery, therapy & chemotherapy protocols, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs and follow up in the physician offices.Supports the faculty in clinic for every patient care session. Occasionally performs scheduling of office visits and procedures.The nurse coordinator is accountable for the quality of nursing practice. Provides nursing services as needed and assists with other activities as assigned to help grow the practice and the referrals to UCI.

Salary Range:
Annual RateMinimum$125,363.52Midpoint$145,408.32Maximum $165,432.24
Required Qualifications:
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Current California RN license
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Minimum 6 months experience working as an RN in an Inpatient or Outpatient Oncology setting OR 1 Year clinical experience and recent completion of cancer basics class from Oncology Nursing Society within previous year
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care team
Ability to maintain attendance standards of the organization to support organizational goals.
Current BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of care and treatment for gynecological oncology patients
Specialty certification in Oncology Nursing
ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification
Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
Understanding of JCAHO requirements
BSN or MSN in Nursing
Working experience in an outpatient clinical setting
