Responsibilities
Position is independently responsible for providing leadership for operating all UC Davis Health multi-site Volunteer Services programs. Work is performed with full independence and decision-making responsibility for designing, implementing, administering, and operating all UCDHS multi-site Volunteer Services programs.
Required Qualifications
Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Several years of management/supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Skills, knowledge and ability to enhance image of Volunteer Services and project mission in community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background in volunteerism both as a general concept and in its specific use in the hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO standards and Title XXII regulations. Must have the ability to interpret standards, assess situations and determine necessary action.
  • Demonstrated skills in long range planning, evaluation, problem solving, personnel management, administrative coordination, fiscal policy and operation.
  • Ability to have a positive impact on various hospital departments, teach new volunteers about the hospital programs and supervise their orientation/ registration.
  • Skills to manage, direct, motivates and develops human resources; must possess excellent interpersonal skills in fulfilling volunteer personnel management responsibilities.
  • Knowledge, skills and demonstrated ability to manage department budget; ability to coordinate, review and monitor budgets; ability to project and establish an annual budget that meets both institutional goals as well as department needs.
  • Knowledge and skill to review rate and revenue projections, workload standards and staffing needs based on productivity, knowledge and skill in cost containment measures.
  • Strong knowledge of volunteer services and applies concepts to improve operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to give guidance and support to a volunteer board and community constituency.
  • Knowledge of University Personnel Policies and Procedures and collective bargaining contracts relating to the supervision of department staff.
  • Knowledge of and ability to be proactive of affirmative action principles.
  • Knowledge of resources in the community and UCDH and ability to coordinate those resources to meet the organizations’ and constituents’ needs.
  • Knowledge of UCDH and UCDH mission, policies and procedures, goals, objectives and strategic plan.
  • Ability to promote as a concept to hospital community.
Special Requirements
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
