UC Davis Health is Hiring a Pharmacy Technician 3 Per Diem - Prior Authorization Near Sacramento, CA

Job Summary

The pharmacy technician III is responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to process requests. Makes analysis of what further information needs to be collected to complete patient history. Makes recommendations to pharmacist for refill authorization based on protocols and data gathered. Communicates authorization requests to requesting parties. Assists with processing of prior authorization requests. Maintains database of activities to document workload and impact on patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualification:

  • California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
  • Recent experience processing third party billing
  • Experience in performing pharmacy calculations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generic and trade drug names and pharmacy terminology.
  • Experience in the use of pharmacy information systems and look-up patient data on hospital information systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)
  • Recent Outpatient Pharmacy Experience
  • PBM Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Prior Authorization/Patient Assistance Program Experience
  • Knowledge of Hospital, Department and University Policies and Procedures
  • Familiarity with Hospital, HBC, PCN layout, names and locations of patient care areas
  • Experience in following an established protocol and keep accurate records and pay close attention to details.

Department Description

The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services (prescriptions, unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient and six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.

  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.
