Responsibilities
The role of the Assistant Manager is to provide 24-hour responsibility for operations, management, supervision, and leadership over the Lift Team, Patient Transport, and Special Duty Caregiver (SDCG) departments.
Provides direct supervision to Patient Support Services Supervisors, Lift Technicians, Mental Health Workers, Patient Transporters, Special Duty Caregivers, Telesitters and Volunteers in conjunction with the department Manager and Director. Supervises and coordinates departmental operations, resolves system issues, advises on work methods, and manages schedules. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems. Interprets and assures compliance with provisions bargaining contracts and Staff Personnel policies. Responds to identified learning needs of staff on assigned shift and makes recommendations for/arranges for/provides educational programs. Supervises staff to ensure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, functional, and human) in compliance with department goals and objectives. May assume full responsibility for the department in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager. Maintains clear communication with Nursing Units and Nursing Supervisor in real time of hospital flow.
