In complex settings, like academic medical centers, where patients receive a wide range of services from multiple care providers, across inpatient and outpatient settings, integrated service lines improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and increase patient satisfaction by providing more coordinated and efficient care. Correcting historical disparities and incoordination, they allow healthcare professionals to share information and expertise across different areas of medicine, which improves the overall quality of care for patients. Integrated service lines place the patient at the center of the care journey, ensuring high-value clinical care that comprehensively addresses all aspects of patient care, ensures superior patient and staff experience, and produces appropriate financial outcomes for the health system.
