UAB Callahan Eye is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Surgery Clearance Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients based on their individual needs and medical plans in accordance with established nursing standards and administrative policy. You will be reporting directly to the Chief CRNA Nursing Supervisor.

Your role as an RN will involve utilizing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as communicating with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate quality patient care. Additionally, you will participate in maintaining unit organization, attending staff development conferences and programs, guiding and teaching auxiliary personnel, and orienting new staff members. You will also be required to participate in teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Must have two years prior clinical experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing; prefer prior PAR/Critical Care experience.
• Ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, and diabetes experience are preferred.
• Provides quality patient care for the needs of the populations served and age-specific groups as indicated: pediatric (>1 – 12 years), adolescent (>12 – 17 years), adult (>17 – 65 years), and geriatric (>65 years)
• BLS certification is required by the end of the employee provisional period. ACLS and PALS certification is required within one year of employment.
