Job Summary:
The PAC Registered Nurse (RN):
Reports directly to the Nurse Manager.
Provides professional nursing care during a telephone interview based on individual patient needs and medical (anesthetic and surgical) in accordance with established nursing standards and administrative policy.
Communicates with physicians, CRNAs, and surgery scheduling and admissions staff to coordinate quality and timely patient assessment.
Assures all required elective surgery testing and clearances are obtained.
Collects Patients Lab Specimens if required for surgery clearance.
Participates in maintaining unit organization.
Participates in staff development, conferences, programs and required certification programs.
Guides and teaches auxiliary personnel and assists in the orientation of new staff members.
Performs other related duties as necessary or as assigned by the Chief Anesthetist or ASU Nurse Manager.
Participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies
Qualifications:
Current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Prefer two years prior clinical experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing; prefer prior PAR/Critical Care experience.
Provides quality patient care for the needs of the populations served and age specific groups as indicated: pediatric (>1 - 12 years), adolescent (>12 - 17 years), adult (>17 - 65 years), and geriatric (>65 years)
BLS certification required by the end of employee provisional period. ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment
