The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an OPTICIAN to supervise daily activities of dispensary and departmental staff involved in assisting patients in the selection, ordering and dispensing of frames and contact lenses. Fabricates eyewear according to prescriptions and established parameters. Provides patient education in proper eye care and use of lenses. Instructs students and staff in the concepts of opticianry and ophthalmic dispensing. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate publications and attending related conferences and seminars. Maintains appropriate supply and equipment levels. Responds to the unique need of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.
(Hourly Rate: $17.95 - $29.20)
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required.
