CASE MANAGER-HOME VISITOR

The Psychology department within the College of Arts & Sciences seeks a Case Manager-Home Visitor who will provide in-home early childhood education/child development guidance to promote parents/primary caregiver(s) as their child's first teacher and to provide case management services to families as needed.

Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the recruitment of eligible families
  • Develop a partnership with the UAB Early Head Start Program families and individual family members as assigned
  • Conduct weekly home visits with assigned families using appropriate safety procedures Complete/assist in the completion of multiple developmental screening and assessment measures for children on your family list
  • Using information obtained through developmental screening and assessment measures, parent input, personal observation, and knowledge of child development, develop an Individual Developmental Plan (IDP) for each child on your family list. IDPs are developed quarterly and are updated weekly
  • Completion of appropriate documentation of home visits, goal planning, etc. in a timely manner
  • Facilitate and document family members' identification of their resources, supports, and goals
  • Assist in the achievement of families' goals through referrals to community services and resources
  • Participate in group socialization activities and encourage families to participate in these activities
  • Work with other staff and area specialists to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to families
  • Respond to family crises in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in family reviews and staff meetings
  • Conduct occasional after-hour meetings with families as needed
  • Develop an annual individual training plan related to continuing education goals and follow the plan
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Hourly Salary Wage: $15.50 - $25.20

Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, psychology, counseling, social work, or related field with course work in child development required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. Experience in working with children is required.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education with experience in working with children and families OR a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field with course work and in early childhood education.
