ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT-SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Assistant Director of Development for the School of Dentistry. The Assistant Director of Development is expected to efficiently solicit and close a defined number of mid-level and major gifts within a specified timeframe in support of the UAB School of Dentistry. Outcomes include intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of mid-to-high net-worth prospects. This includes the expectation that the Assistant Director of Development will execute fundraising strategies to raise mid-level and major gifts in support of the UAB School of Dentistry. The Assistant Director is also expected to coordinate the alumni mentorship program, and School of Dentistry class reunions and execute the class reunion giving program. This position will report to the Director of Development. Lastly, the position is hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage class reunion giving program
  • Effectively communicate the mission and vision of UAB and the SOD to all stakeholders while assisting with special fundraising campaigns
  • Work closely with the School of Dentistry dean and the Executive Director of Development and the Director of Development to engage with members of the SOD and implement strategic fundraising priorities and strategies through alumni relations programs
  • Perform other duties

Salary Range: $ 52,555--$62,000

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or Related Field
  • 2 years of related experience

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to work competently within the CRM
  • Intermediate knowledge of fundraising techniques (qualifying, asks, objections, messaging)
  • Advanced networking - positioning conversations.
  • Advanced stakeholder management (status, prospects lists, communications, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic planned giving techniques
  • Portfolio development/management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
  • Advanced writing skills (ability to create prospect proposals)
  • Presentation skills
  • Intermediate project management
  • Negotiation 101
  • Budget management 101
