What You’ll Do:
Leads and directs assigned dedicated operations area to include recruiting, retention, and utilization. Ensures that procedures and day-to-day activities are executed to maximize profitability and meet or exceed KPI’s. Acts as a mediator or facilitator on any issues that might develop between operating entity, customers, vendors, and/or agents. Provides executive-level management with continuous information and reports as to the level of activity within defined area.

  • Effectively manage multiple national and/or major dedicated accounts (“book of business”) and continuously build sustainable relationships with customers; constantly maintain pulse on operations.
  • Lead and participate in strategic planning for dedication operations; manage national accounts, profit & loss, utilization of assets, creation and implementation of policy changes, & customer relationships (internal/external).
  • Responsible for the leadership and development of direct and in-direct employees including, but not limited to:
    • Strategic planning in regards to staffing models, hiring/termination, and performance management for all employees – including both driver and non-driver employees.
    • Partner with necessary stakeholders to design and implement appropriate training.
    • Continuously promote a safe work environment by regularly identifying safety opportunities.
    • Monitor all operations and dedicated sites to ensure that all associates comply with administrative policy and procedures, safe work habits, contract administration, and DOT regulations.
  • Function as the primary contact person for all operations personnel at assigned accounts; ensure both employee and customer issues at the local and executive levels are handled appropriately.
  • Maintain fluid and open communication to enable the leadership to monitor operations (e.g. participate in teleconferences and on-site visits and maintain constant communication with both leadership and line level employees). Communicate surge requirements to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Perform financial analyses; remain apprised of financial impacts (e.g. both driver and non-driver employee pay, equipment costs, etc.) and perform routine audit of administrative functions (e.g. billing, collections, etc.).
  • Direct efficient and low cost equipment maintenance at a site-specific level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
  • Experience

    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience leading account relationships within the transportation industry required.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ general leadership experience required.

    Skills/Certifications

    • Advanced interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills; ability to exchange information effectively and tactfully, influence and convince others (internally and externally), and negotiate often at a senior level.
    • Advanced computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel, Internet, and applicable company specific applications).
    • Solid working knowledge of DOT rules & regulations and general employee related rules & regulations to ensure the company is protected.
    • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
    • Ability to analyze a situation or report and take corrective action immediately.
