U.S. Marine Corps is Hiring an EDUCATION TECH NF-3 MCAS Near Beaufort, SC

Duties

Provides primary sources of educational information to military personnel, spouses, dependents, DOD civilians and all others seeking information at the Lifelong Learning Center. Advises students on the educational opportunities at the colleges/ universities aboard Marine Corps Bases and in the surrounding area and available through distance learning programs. Provides information on standard check in/check out procedures and opportunities and requirements related to the Marine Corps Voluntary Education Programs. Responds to all inquiries on availability of funding, scholarships, loans, grants, enrollment procedures, prerequisites, room locations, schedules, costs and non-traditional education instruments including Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). Possesses familiarity with American Council on Education (ACE) guide books in order to advise students on credits received for military training. Prints and reviews Sailor-Marine Corps American Council on Education Registry Transcripts (SMART) and assists military personnel in the preparation of DD295 documents as needed. Provides information on the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES and Excelsior testing programs. Collects and annotates Service members Opportunity College (SOC) agreements in student records.

Assists in maintaining a centrally managed educational accounting system, Navy Campus Management Information System (NCMIS). Serves as designee to sign Tuition Assistance (TA) Authorization documents. Inputs initial and subsequent entries into NCMIS for all Marine and Navy students, updates accounts and makes corrections or adjustments as needed. Ensures all information, schools, monetary amounts and necessary codes are entered correctly.

Interacts with colleges/universities, NCMIS accounting technicians, and DFAS to resolve complicated TA issues. Identifies, analyzes and researches problems and functions as a technical expert regarding the TA accounts resolution process. Documents actions and progress in counseling notes in NCMIS for each student for whom service is provided. Reviews and complies with Marine Corps Orders and regulations governing TA funding policies. Extracts and compiles statistical education usage information as requested. Submits necessary reports and conforms to applicable reporting guidelines

Provides students with information on TA policies and procedures individually or in group settings. Assists military personnel with enrollment and completion of TA applications, registration, course drop/add and withdrawal forms required by the institutions. Assists students who drop, withdraw or fail courses and informs them of repayment and/or waiver policies and procedures. Collects and reports grades to NCMIS as required. Responds to emails, faxes and telephone calls relating to tuition assistance. Provides assistance to those requesting information on Veterans Administration educational benefits.

Serves as Test Examiner as needed. Assists the Test Control Officer with conducting and administering DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support) and Military Classification Testing Programs. Compiles test report information and coordinates with HQMC representatives and local military commands. Assists the Test Control Officer with the proper administration and security of tests, in accordance with Marine Corps, DANTES, and DOD regulations and directives and approved educational testing techniques. Maintains DANTES materials in the Education Office.

Organizes meetings with colleges and universities to assist with establishing the final schedule and facility/classroom requirements. Works with off base colleges/universities to schedule special weekly education events and classrooms.

Provides administrative and technical support in compiling, correlating, and editing quarterly class schedules, briefings and education bulletins for printing and distribution. Assists in analyzing, researching, preparing and submitting articles and advertisements for educational opportunities to local media resources. Maintains administrative files that comprehensively reflect all educational events aboard the installation.

Maintains personal identification information IAW with prescribed regulations and ensures confidentiality and security of information. Handles sensitive information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential, or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure. Safeguards sensitive information and prevents unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and DoD Directive 6025.18.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR three years of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above in understanding basic education principles and processes. Knowledge of Voluntary Off-Duty Education, military structure, procedures and terminology preferred. Effective communication skills are required, as well as a demonstrated ability to meet and deal effectively with all military grades and people from diverse backgrounds with a variety of educational goals. Knowledge of office administration management and understanding of tuition assistance and other financial aid available for military personnel and family members. Knowledge of DANTES Testing Program.
