Duties

• Conducts research and gathers and maintains environmental data for mitigation of surface and subsurface impacts;.
• Coordinates and participates in inspections; inspects construction sites for surrounding ecosystem and habitat impact;

and develops, recommends and implements plans to accomplish program surface protection goals.

• Serves as an environmental advisor and evaluator to the Field or District Office interdisciplinary staff on programmatic, technical and regulatory actions when dealing with issues concerning hazardous waste cleanup and / or environmental protection.
• Arranges and participates in the inspection of proposed and abandoned oil and gas drill sites and abandoned mine sites to determine the potential environmental impacts.
• Participates in inventory collection and monitoring activities that support land use plans; provides technical advice and assistance to managers;

and conducts studies and surveys to identify problems.

• Coordinates and consults with local Tribal Councils, State or Federal Agencies, and special interest groups; and meets with operators to discuss mitigation measures.
• Makes recommendations on implementation of mitigation measures to reduce the impacts on the environment.
