U.S. Central and Southern Province, Society of Jesus is Hiring a RN/LPN Near St. Louis, MO

Act as Charge Nurse as required. Perform diversified nursing duties to provide and maintain quality of life under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or the Director of Nursing. Provide direct nursing care to residents through various methods within a defined scope of practice. Work under the supervision and in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current State of Missouri licensure as a RN/LPN.
  • Ongoing continuing education as required to maintain licensure.
  • Skilled nursing experience in a licensed and certified facility is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical requirements of this job include routine bending, lifting in excess of 50 pounds, positioning of residents on the nursing unit, and pushing equipment. When functioning in a Charge Nurse position, physical requirements include standing or walking for prolonged periods of time. Other physical criteria include the ability to make quick effective physical responses to nursing home emergencies including (but not limited to) falls and emergency evacuation; the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position; the ability to function independently; the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies: and the ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility. Exposure to blood and body fluids is likely.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ongoing assessment of each resident. Plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of residents. Coordinate and cooperate with other disciplines as needed to provide comprehensive resident care.
  • Document residents; progress, nursing care activities, and results of nursing interventions. Report to and /or confer with Director of Nursing regarding the condition of residents, unusual problems or situations, admissions, transfers, discharges, and perform or assist in the performance of related procedures, as necessary.
  • Perform direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents, which may include but is not limited to providing total care or assistance to maintain residents; hygiene and comfort; feeding, assisting in feeding and/or performing nursing measures to provide adequate nourishment; performing rehabilitation techniques and procedures to maintain or improve resident function and/or prevent secondary complications, such as range of joint motion, exercise, proper positioning, use of good body mechanics, and assisting or supervising resident with mobility and ambulation; preparing and administering medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician; taking vital signs, suctioning; administering oxygen; and performing other nursing procedures and techniques as needed and required.
  • Confer with residents, provide psychological support, meet social needs, listen to questions, complaints, etc., and resolve problems within scope; consult with Registered Nurse, Director of Nursing, or other professionals as needed.
  • In charge of Certified Nurse Aides as assigned by the Director of Nursing and is accountable for nursing care provided directly and that provided by staff under her supervision, ensuring that they adhere to quality and safe nursing practice. Assist in the distribution of assignments and responsibilities.
  • As assigned, make rounds with the physician, report pertinent observations, and other information about the resident; make recommendations and suggestions, as necessary. Carry out physician's verbal or telephone orders and ensure that they are transcribed and documented correctly.
  • Notify physician of pertinent changes in resident condition as needed.
  • Receive and give shift reports and do resident rounds with Charge Nurse on other shifts, noting resident conditions, significant changes, admissions, discharges, unusual occurrences, or incidents.
  • Assist in maintaining and controlling supplies and equipment and ensure that equipment is operable. Recommend requisitioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Attend and participate in unit meetings, resident care conferences, and staff development programs. Seek additional instruction for the improvement of nursing skills, as necessary. Participate in orientation classes, as necessary. Attend other meetings and conferences as required or directed.
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.

WORK HOURS: Friday and Saturdays Nights-11pm-7:30pm
