The Crisis Management Officer role on the enterprise Crisis Management team operationally supports the Crisis Management Executive by detecting and analyzing risks to the bank, conducting assessments of risks and impacts in the context of the bank’s risk appetite and tolerance, and preparing incident communications for senior leadership. The Crisis Management Officer is responsible for gathering and assessing information from multiple sources using various technology tools, collaborating with a team in a high-paced environment, and maintaining detailed event documentation in a system of record. The scope of this role is enterprise-wide, offering the ability to engage with diverse risk-type subject matter experts across both first and second lines of defense under a range of scenarios including life safety, information security, technology, facilities impacts, operations, resiliency, fraud, privacy, and much more. Prior experience working in a command center environment, particularly in the financial sector, is a plus.
The Crisis Management Officer role will:
Support the bank’s effective management of incidents and crisis events as part of the enterprise Crisis Management team
Support program design and execution leveraging Microsoft 365, particularly Teams, SharePoint, Power Apps, Workflows, and Power BI
Be a daily power user of ESRI’s ArcGIS geospatial intelligence platform for visualizing, exploring, and analyzing risks (such as severe weather and natural disasters) and impacts to the bank’s staff and assets
Participate in the planning and execution of a variety of programs and initiatives that may include risk mitigation, efficiency, and customer experience
Engage with Business Line subject matter experts to review and calibrate enterprise escalation triggers, communication requirements, and enhance incident response plans
Collaborate and consult with team leaders in supporting project plans, policies, and procedures
Support integration of U.S. Bank’s Crisis Management program with other, related initiatives and programs (e.g., enterprise risk management, cybersecurity, business continuity/disaster recovery, anti-fraud, etc.); Produce and maintain related documentation and metrics pertaining to incident processes and procedures
Support efforts to embed U.S. Bank’s Crisis Management program into existing processes and to leverage technology in the execution of crisis response
Support drafting time sensitive incident communications requiring the ability to rapidly read, understand, and distill disparate and dynamic information streams
Participate in efforts to produce reports on preparedness, plans, findings, including tracking and resolving ongoing repetitive incident-related issues, root cause analysis status and other post-incident review, preventative measures being implemented, and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than eight years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Banking and risk management experience
- Intelligence or business intelligence experience
- Systemic financial services industry risks
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite
- GIS concepts and tools
- Data analytics concepts and tools
- Regulatory compliance experience
- Ability to lead by example and influence change
- Experience in writing with high accuracy under tight deadlines

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
