U.S. Army Medical Command is Hiring a Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) Near Bethesda, MD

Duties

  • Assists the supervisor and other Case Managers through data collection, analysis, developing, and implementing the case management program for SRU Soldiers in the Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP).
  • Incumbent proceeds independently to plan and carry out assignments to include performance of other administrative and automation service duties in support of the medical management program.
  • Assignments will require obtaining and presenting data and provision of advice necessary for the proper functioning and management of the organization, assigned/attached Soldiers, cadre and staff.
  • Incumbent provides administrative support work and performs a variety of clerical duties for the SRU.
  • Demonstrates a current and sound working knowledge of TRICARE benefits and medical management principles of military and civilian health care systems as related to the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) TRICARE program.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes communicates with a wide range of medical clinicians to ensure medical care for patients; uses various types of office automation equipment and software to prepare reports and enter and retrieve data; and maintains patient records in accordance with regulatory guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
