Tyler Technologies is Hiring a Public Affairs Specialist Near Plano, TX

Description

Do you have a reporter’s instinct and experience in corporate reputation management? Tyler Technologies is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist to join a team of professionals as an integral part of a dynamic strategic communications team. 

The Public Affairs Specialist coordinates the media relations aspect of reputation management, actively developing and supporting strategies regarding reactive and responsive media activities. This position also monitors and responds to reputation issues and supports incident response activities including internal and client communications.

Responsibilities

Media Relations

  • Respond to media inquiries that are reactive and/or related to a reputation management concern
    • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts when necessary
  • Support issue response teams with media strategy and issue mitigation activities
  • Research reporters and prepare documents such as media holding statements, internal backgrounders and talking points, and on-record/external talking points
  • Provide media interview consultation
  • Review external/client communications through a media lens for potential red flags
  • Interact with PIOs of high-risk clients to support local media relations/crisis communications strategies (include in PR Toolkit for clients)
  • Track and report on issue engagement, media statements/responses, internal briefings, and explore additional ways to measure impact
  • Establish, improve, and document reactive media processes and procedures

Reputation Management and External Communications

  • Review and update reputation management/crisis communications plan
  • Review vertical client communications that have direct impact on reputation management (e.g., cybersecurity messages, education and security alerts, cross-product support messages, product releases, product changes, service disruptions, etc.)
  • Consult with vertical marketing leads and other stakeholders on reputation management strategies as requested
  • Collaborate with media relations for awareness of proactive media and the impact of reputation management concerns
  • Work in partnership with social media manager to appropriately respond to negative posts
  • Research potential acquisitions for any potential reputation management issues
  • Along with proactive media and other Public Affairs team members, triage incoming emails and respond as appropriate
  • Educate organization on reputation management role and available services

Qualifications

  • 3 years of writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable work experience
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills
  • Ability to generate ideas, analyze information, and make decisions
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and competing timelines
  • Media relations experience preferred
