Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Landscape

• Drive trucks.
• Fuel trucks, equipment, and gas cans.
• Operate commercial landscape equipment.
• Mowers
• Trimmers
• Blowers
• ATV’s
• Other vehicles or equipment, as requested.
• Check condition of equipment (oil, blades, operation, etc.).
• Edge and mulch flower beds and trees.
• Prune shrubs and trees.
• Loam and seed turf areas.
• Water flowers, plants, shrubs and trees.
• Spring and Fall clean-up.
• Rake leaves
• Clean up fallen debris
• Observe conditions of surroundings and notify Supervisor of areas that need attention.
• Supervise “controlled” brush fires.

2. Buildings

• Scrape, sand, and paint interior and exterior of buildings.
• Clean painting equipment.
• Load and unload remodeling materials and clean up remodeling debris.
• Drive to lumber yard, etc. for materials, as requested.
• Load and unload scrap metal for the recycling center.
• Assist in repairing roofs, decks, siding, docks.
• Clean and organize work areas (shop, storage, and job sites)

3. Vehicles and Equipment

• Wash and detail.
• Inflate tires and check fluids.
• Load and unload motorcycles for transportation.
• Hook up trailers.
• Deliver cars and trucks to and from different locations as requested.

Requirements

Qualifications & Job Requirements 

• Be familiar with building and grounds maintenance and the products and equipment used.
• Be familiar with the use of hand tools, saws, and nailguns.
• Ability to evaluate and communicate department needs to supervisor or upper management.
• Ability to work unsupervised and to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.

Physical Demands 

• The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
• Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools.
• Requires the ability and tolerance to climb and work on ladders and staging.
• Requires the ability to lift 150 lb. of material.

Working Conditions 

• Occasionally exposed to chemicals, paint products, or other toxic materials commonly found in the process of building maintenance, landscaping, and motor vehicle service.
• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles, gasoline, fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides.
• Frequently exposed to the outside elements such as heat, cold, rain, and sun.
