About the job

This position is needed to drive the most strategic projects that power our operations organization at Twilio. Our Automation PMO team is expanding to ensure we have the best talent using data-backed insights from which to drive our strategic initiatives. We are seeking a high-performing Technical Program Manager to join Twilio’s Automation PMO team. In this role, you will lead and deliver the most strategic initiatives that are integral to our automation strategy for our Operations teams. As our business grows and we seek to deliver a best-in-class customer experience, we need a program manager to own a portfolio of automation projects.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Partner on the end-to-end project lifecycle, ensuring timely and successful delivery of technical deliverables for automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements
  • Directly interface with Engineering teams to ensure resource allocation alignment with project timelines and deliverables
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all technical aspects of the project, serving as the proxy for engineering in stakeholder engagements
  • Possess a deep understanding of the project from both business and technical perspectives to assist engineers in developing solutions and addressing questions from stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure all technical aspects are included in documentation such as Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), rollout plans, Technical Blueprints and status updates.
  • Escalate gaps on engineering priorities to project team and escalate to leadership, as needed
  • Extensive experience leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, including planning, coordination, and execution
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting transparency, and ensuring continuous improvement through agile practices

Required:

  • 5 years experience in technical project management, demonstrating the ability to lead and deliver complex projects autonomously
  • Extensive experience facilitating and participating in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospective
  • Skilled in creating test plans, scenarios, and scripts, as well as managing feedback and reporting results to project teams
  • Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, adept at driving results through effective collaboration and teamwork
  • Experience in facilitating communication between business and technical teams to ensure alignment with the overall business goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated success in navigating complex organizational structures, leveraging interpersonal skills to build consensus and drive projects forward

Desired:

  • PMP or another program management certification
  • SCRUM certification 
  • Experience in fast-paced operations or PMO team in a software company

Location

This role will be based in the US - Tier 3, fully remote. Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle, ensuring timely and successful delivery of automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and requirements
  • develop and execute project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Drive the implementation of generative AI and machine learning solutions, contributing to the advancement of our automation capabilities
  • Define goals, create milestones and deliverables and socialize tactical plans across a large number of teams with dependencies on partners in other organizations .
  • identify and confirm key program components and roles to set up a program for success, delegating to project managers as part of managing programs with many projects and workstreams 
  • Escalates gaps on priorities across organizations and escalates to leadership, as needed

  • Experience kicking off new programs from initiation and creating new templates and guidance, as needed

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $92,800- $116.000 USD.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
