Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent.DescriptionAs the Vice President of Business Development at Tutor Perini Building Corp., reporting to the Tutor Perini Corporation Chief Business Development Officer, you will have the opportunity to research, analyze and present business opportunities for the future direction and growth of the business group. You will develop and implement planning and strategy for new business development, lead growth for the existing customer base, and serve as a strategic advisor for senior leadership. The successful candidate will be innovative and can perceive business opportunities and work closely with company management in developing and executing strategies to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Develop, prepare, and implement short- and long-term business development plans ensuring they conform to corporate objectives
  • Ensure that Tutor Perini Building Corp. is presented with optimum business opportunities to realize profit objectives through new business, existing clients or diversification
  • Qualify potential opportunities early in the sales cycle to ensure that opportunities are pursued in a timely way and that sales expectations are met
  • Continuously evaluate target market sectors to stay up to date on trends and be informed of opportunities prior to becoming public knowledge in California and Nevada
  • Provide timely and accurate reports and analysis on business opportunities and customers to keep executive management informed of conditions, activities, and trends including changes, technical developments, market dynamics and competitive strategies
  • Work closely with other offices and Business Units, ensuring maximum exposure of Tutor Perini Corporation’s capabilities, including an understanding of the offerings and the presentation of those capabilities when appropriate
  • Develop trusting relationships with Clients and their key decision makers
  • Conduct debrief meetings with Owners, Owner’s Representatives, Architects, Engineers, etc. to formulate lessons learned and best practices
  • Represent the Company at functions and utilize technical knowledge to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders
  • Supervise marketing team during preparation of qualifications, proposals and presentations, providing key client insight and strategy and ensuring a high quality, complete product
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics to record sales contacts and opportunities and to obtain and retain project and company information for inclusion in marketing and proposal development
Requirements
  • 10 or more years of Business Development experience in the AEC industry within California and/or Nevada
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business or similar
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to adjust for industry trends, market swings, and competitor activities
  • Experience delivering projects to owners in the Commercial, Municipal, Mixed-use, or Hospitality & Gaming sectors valued over $500M
  • Experience with Owners’ project funding and implementation procedures
  • Experience with Permitting and project approval processes at the federal, state and local levels
  • Experience with managing qualifications, proposal and presentation development
  • Professional demeanor
  • Strong Client interviewing skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Effective interaction, both professionally and socially, with people of all levels
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within California and Nevada
