Position Title
Instructional Designer
Job Summary
The Instructional Designer will work with faculty and other members of the instructional design team in the planning, design, development, implementation, delivery and maintenance of courses and educational experiences for all students in online, hybrid, and on-campus classroom formats. The individual will also assist in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), assist with training workshops, engage in the online course review process, as well as support other related teaching and learning processes.
Essential Job Duties
The Instructional Designer will work with faculty and other members of the instructional design team in the planning, design, development, implementation, delivery and maintenance of courses and educational experiences for all students in online, hybrid, and on-campus classroom formats. The individual will also assist in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), assist with training workshops, engage in the online course review process, as well as support other related teaching and learning processes.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in instructional design.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, learning sciences, educational media, curriculum and instruction, educational technologies, or a related field with demonstrated experience in distance learning in higher education, knowledge of instructional design models, knowledge of learning management systems, skills in multimedia development, and experience in curriculum development.

  • Skill in integrating technology in a wide variety of learning environments.
  • Skill in adapting to the needs of a changing program.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and methods for online learning, including course development, curriculum, and course review.
  • Knowledge of the assessment process
  • Ability to create, implement, and train others in using a variety of graphics, multimedia, web-based, and social media applications in media content preparation, production, and presentation.
  • Ability to implement instructional technology tools for online content preparation, presentation and production.
  • Ability to work with diverse clientele and meet their instructional technology needs.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements such as ADA 508 in online course delivery
  • Proven customer services skills including positive attitude and ability to resolve problems or conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing courses using Blackboard
