Job Description:

Works under the direction of a foreman, to apply coats of paint on fabricated piping or like materials as required per paint matrix.

Functional Requirements:

Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift; smooth surfaces using sand paper, screen wire, DA sander, and scrappers; paint fabricated piping or like materials per spool sheet using spray guns, brushes or rollers; may set up ladder to perform task above ground level; performs daily inspection of tools used; knows and follows the proper disposal method in place for paint and thinner; maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.

Qualification Standards:

• Preferably one (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill.
• Pre-employment/post-employment qualification test if applicable.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Turner Industries Group/Job site orientation/Hazard Communication and required tests.
• Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, OSHA approved Z87 if applicable, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Level C - Demonstrated proficiency in the following with consideration of prior experience:

• Basic knowledge of paint equipment (paint guns, epoxy paints, etc.)
• Ability to exhibit simple spray techniques.
• Ability to accurately read film gage.
• Comprehensive knowledge of sketch system - 15 gray.
• Ability to assess cleanliness of pipe/prime coat regulator.
• Knowledge and understanding of the DFT (Dry Film Thickness) - list of special instructions.
• Complete an average of 1500 square ft. per day with minimal repair.

Level B - In addition to level C qualifications and experience, demonstrated proficiency in the following:

• Knowledge and understanding of matrix.
• Spraying epoxy and urethanes
• Operation of wet film mill gauge
• Developing techniques spraying color contrast & multiple paints
• Successfully spraying at production rates acceptable to QC inspection with a minimum of 6 months experience
• Complete an average of 1800 square ft. per day with minimal repair.

Level A - In addition to level B qualifications and experience, demonstrated proficiency in the following:

• Complete an average of 2400 square ft. per day with minimal repair.

Physical Involvement

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards

Work Environment Factors:

• Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground levels; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
• Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances.
