ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Crewboat Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally compliant operation of assigned area. The Crewboat Captain must be able to safely escort passengers off and on the boat; ensure safe and clean working conditions; tie off the boat; check the hatches and ensure consistent orderliness of the Crewboat. Acts as a company representative in the day-to-day dealings with customers at their facilities and with representatives of governmental agencies.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a motor vessel. 

The Crewboat Captain must be able to tolerate a 12-hour work schedule; communicate with customers, coworkers, captains, etc. as needed; remain calm during challenging situations; make good decisions; be dependable, conscientious and show initiative; pay attention to detail; be willing to adhere to orders, rules and regulations. Additionally, incumbent meet and hold all requirements necessary to maintain United States Coast Guard marine documents and/or licenses for the position of Crewboat Captain. 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Incumbent will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot-cool/cold as well as occasional rain. Will work at different elevations; noise levels will be moderate-high.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The job will require the incumbent to be able to perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Incumbent will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: hard hat, eyewear, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/ or in excess of 50 lbs. frequently, and/ or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

• Master of Self-Propelled Vessels not including auxiliary sail of less than 50 gross register tons (GRT) upon near coastal water
• TWIC required
• Radio License
• Radar Certification desired

Avg. pay - $20 - $22 per hour
