Essential Qualities

The Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist at Tulsa Educare is responsible for focusing on audiences beyond the walls of Tulsa Educare. The Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist plays an intentional socio-emotional role in supporting parents in the development of strong, positive parent-child relationships through workshops, events, and consultation opportunities. The Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist, coordinates and facilitates parenting groups, training, family engagement activities, community partnerships, and referrals for early intervention as needed. The Bilingual Community Specialist will also manage general program operations for participants in the outreach program, and any tasks as assigned to further the ELW mission and goals.

Essential Functions

  • Develops strategies to engage parents in early learning opportunities focusing mainly on the Hispanic community
  • Able and willing to collaborate with internal team to further parent education through work with childcare providers
  • Collaborate with other organizations, programs, and events to reach the desired audiences
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate parent groups, parent education opportunities, community events, and other events as assigned
  • Provide information to parents on the importance of their relationships with their child and how it relates to the childs language, health, literacy, social development, and learning and future life success
  • Collaborate and consult with outside organizations for program development, program facilitation, assessment collection, evaluation, and outcome data
  • Complete project charters, dashboards and documentation of project/programs and events
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment is a must- working weeknights and weekends as necessary to execute ELW programs and events
  • Participate in regular consultation meetings, team meetings, and staff trainings
  • Attend pre-service, in-service, and other workshops that may include overnight, and out-of-town travel as requested by management
  • Assume all other responsibilities willingly as assigned
  • Report child abuse and neglect as identified by Oklahoma State Law

  • Interpersonal skills and be culturally competent
  • Child development and parent-child relationships
  • Facilitating adults training groups using strong communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Successfully managing interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with the organization and its community partners
  • Taking initiative to collaborate, engage and execute tasks and projects as assigned
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
  • MS office skills, database software skills, organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis
  • Balancing and prioritizing multiple projects and priorities and following through to completion
  • Possess results-oriented mindset, be self-motivated with strong project management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Child Development, Early Childhood, Families Studies, Social Science, Social Work, or related field and relevant experience working with children families in either an education, or social services
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish required
