Tucson Youth Music, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to providing quality music education
for Tucson’s underserved youth ages 6-18.
1. Piano Teacher, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., 830 E. 17th Street.
2. Piano Teacher, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Noon to 1:15 p.m., 830 E. 17th Street.
3. Music Appreciation, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., 830 E. 17th Street.
4. Piano Teacher, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, 10:15 – 11:30 a.m., Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance CATALYST Space in the Tucson Mall.
5. Chorus Teacher, Students Ages 6-10, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, 10:15 – 11:30 a.m., Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance CATALYST Space in the Tucson Mall.
6. Music Appreciation, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance CATALYST Space in the Tucson Mall.
Rate of Pay: $30 per hour. Summer Music Classes are one hour and 15 minutes in duration. For each class taught, a teacher will be allowed to bill for 1.5 hours, to help accommodate time for class prep and follow-up.
Successful Candidates will:
· Be accomplished musicians in their instrument(s) of choice.
· Be well-versed in music genres and styles.
· Plan and implement engaging lesson plans to accommodate both beginning to intermediate students.
· Teach proper technique, repertoire, sight-reading, music theory, ear-training, performance, and improvisation.
· Create an enjoyable learning environment to inspire young minds.
· Help students grow in their appreciation of music.
· Demonstrate how skills acquired in music apply to skills in life, e.g., time management, problem-solving, respect for property, respect for others.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A music-related bachelor’s degree OR at least three years of music teaching experience.
· Possess a genuine love for music.
· Experience in teaching music fundamentals.
· Familiarity with a variety of teaching methods.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Show a high degree of patience.
· Familiarity with the use of technology in music education.
· Work well with children.
