Salary:

Title: Director of Apparel Production

Location: Washington, D.C.

Salary: Competitive salary and benefits package based on qualifications; classified as full-time salaried; exempt and not eligible for overtime.

Reports to: September Votta, Co-Founder

Travel: May require international travel 

Position Overview

We are looking for a Director of Apparel Production who will take the lead in owning the quality, cost control, and on-time delivery for our private label business. Among other objectives, major emphasis is placed on reducing lead times, reducing costs through cost engineering and local component sourcing, and keeping abreast of trade agreements. This person will have the ability to work with design and merchandising teams to achieve a financially viable product line. They will have a creative eye and strategic outlook, while able to set and deliver both short and long term goals. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Create company production calendar to ensure internal schedules and milestones are met for Development and Pre-Production through weekly follow-up meetings
  • Oversee all product-related queries and support the Co-Founder/Private Label vertical in delivering maximum cost efficiencies
  • Maintain alignment with business milestones by partnering cross-functionally with Merchandising and Technical Design teams while ensuring communication is clear and confirm closure at the milestone meetings
  • Take ownership of tracking and factory performance to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Ensure quality standards are met at the factory level through proactive development steps
  • Take ownership of the invoice approval process
  • Partner cross-functionally with Planning & Buying teams to ensure capacity allowances by factory are met and/or revised as needed
  • Maintain solid factory relationships 
  • Partner with offshore offices and internal cross-functional team members to gather technical manufacturing expertise to resolve development and production issues
  • Monitor published arrival dates 
  • Prepare quotations for projected delivery dates for late add’s or off-calendar requests (i.e. special orders and direct shipments)
  • Travel periodically to the factories to address production issues, monitor new line launches, and discuss/ training for new processes as needed
  • Drive projects and provide accurate status updates to stakeholders and leadership team

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years working in the fashion industry in product development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Production Management, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of garment development, global production, and factory follow-up
