The Spotting & Securement Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, and efficient securement and transportation of loads and trailers within and around the designated facility and yard. Efficiency of securement and trailer movement is critical while not sacrificing safety.

• Supervise the daily performance and operations of the on-duty Spotting Specialists and Securement Specialists.
• Handle employee performance including but not limited to reviews, disciplinary action, and terminations.
• Maintain and record trailer inventories in the yard.
• Understand the time required to move trailers in the yard and through the securement process.
• Keep the lot organized to serve customers and carriers as efficiently as possible.
• Understand the practice of hook and unhooking trailers from the tractor itself, including cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers.
• Manage inspections of the spotter truck and trailers for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after shift and submit reports on the condition of the truck and trailers daily.
• Manage the appearance of spotter trucks: inside the cab at all times (ex.-garbage) and outside when conditions permit.
• Effectively communicate with supervisors and upper management of Sustainable Yard Management, along with customer’s staff.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Sustainable Yard Management policies and procedures, comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Immediately report all accidents to the site supervisor involving an employee or company/carrier equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
• Must have knowledge of safe driving and maintenance of equipment.
• Must be able to execute the basics on computer programs such as payroll, PTO, inventory checklist, invoicing, etc.

• Must be able to do occasional bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.

• Must be able to perform occasional heavy lifting. Lifting various objects overhead up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
