Tubman is Hiring a Grant Writer Near Minneapolis, MN

Tubman is seeking a full-time grant writer to join a dynamic and collaborative resource development team. This position requires a combination of high-quality communication and interpersonal skills combined with keen organizational and critical-thinking abilities. The ideal candidate will be a professional who has a passion for Tubman’s mission and services; has a successful history of securing both government and private sector grants; has clear, precise, and compelling writing skills; and appreciates an organizational culture that celebrates diversity, learning, and fun.

This position offers flexibility allowing both remote and onsite work, based on the needs of the organization. Located at Tubman Chrysalis Center in south Minneapolis. Employees are required to be fully onsite during the initial training period. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Grants, Contracts, and Compliance.

Duties of the Grant Writer

  • Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new private and government grants and update information on current funders.
  • Communicate with funders to build/strengthen relationships and understand guidelines, priorities, and requirements for grant proposals.
  • Partner with program, finance and data staff to develop compelling proposals and facilitate program planning and budgeting for proposals.
  • Write, assemble, and conduct final review with program staff prior to submitting foundation- and corporate reports and proposals.
  • Assist with government grant proposals and reports, as needed.
  • Communicate funding restrictions, monitor program spending, and ensure grant compliance in coordination with program leaders.
  • Develop systems for new initiatives including data, financial, and other funder requirements.
  • Collaborate with program and data leaders to analyze program data, interpret results and prepare annual program outputs and outcomes reports.
  • Provide year-to-date comparisons of funding projections and grants received.
  • Assist with special projects within the Development and/or Communications departments and support agency campaigns or events as assigned.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all agency, staff, and client information.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent lived experience
  • Minimum of 4 years grant writing experience, with proven track record securing grants
  • Exceptional written communication skills including the ability to synthesize information, ideas, and data from multiple sources into a clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive document that is consistent with agency image/brand
  • Ability to build positive, productive relationships and a strong network of internal and external allies and resources
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage workload, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to act both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • 6 years grant writing experience, including experience securing government grants
  • Experience writing and securing grants for human services
  • Experience supervising volunteers/interns

Compensation & Benefits

The hiring salary range for this position is $60,000 - $63,000 annually depending upon experience. Tubman provides a quality benefits package that includes a highly competitive paid-time off program, multiple health plan options, dental, short and long-term disability and life insurances, as well as other optional health and wellness insurances to meet diverse employee needs, and a 4% matching 401(k) plan. Tubman is a qualified employer under the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
