Job Title: EHS Specialist
Location: Deerfield Beach, FL
Type: On Site
Type of Contract: Temp to Perm
Salary: 45K to 55K per year.
About the position:
Join our team as an EHS Coordinator, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the comprehensive management of Environmental, Health, & Safety concerns. From overseeing individuals to infrastructure, production, and materials, you'll foster a workplace ethos prioritizing health and safety. If you're passionate about instituting safety initiatives, providing essential training, and upholding regulatory compliance, this position is for you.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Environmental, Health, and Safety Science related field.
  • Solid knowledge of EHS and Facility Maintenance functions
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the EHS related assignment.
  • Preferred OSHA Certifications (Hazardous Material, Machine Guarding, Respiratory Protection, etc.)

  • Learning Strategies for adapting instructional methods to facilitate learning.
  • Coordination - Aligning actions with others.

Functions:
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
  • Hazardous Identification/Mitigation. Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as the use of safety equipment, hazardous condition monitoring, and safety laws and regulations.
  • Select and train EHS Committee volunteers and lead EHS Committee activities.
  • Plan and conduct emergency response drills.
  • Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances.
  • Incident Management.
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
  • Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards.
  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Maintain inventories of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure that materials are handled properly.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Prepare or review specifications or orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
