Our client, a leading financial services company, is hiring a Mainframe CICS Engineer on a contract basis.

Summary:
The Mainframe CICS Engineer is responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and CICS related operation functions. The candidate must be comfortable working with CICS (and MQ) in a 247 large scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment and must be able to interface with application developers and operations teams. The CICS engineer should have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge in CICS performance & tuning, debugging and dump analysis. On-call support and maintenance outside of normal working hours are needed to support the CICS environment and to resolve issues. #LI-SK1

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.
• Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrade and maintenance
• Knowledge of CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool to gather statistics necessary to tune CICS regions
• Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.
• Knowledge of the CICS resource definitions that pertain to CICS region performance
• Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis and performance tuning
• Experienced with the CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS.
• Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers
• Experience with Mainframe Websphere MQ- Good oral/written communication skills

Skills desired:

• Assembler and COBOL coding and knowledge of CICS Exits
• Web application support in a CICS TS V5 environment
• Understanding of zOS facilities such as: APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling Facility
• Good Project Management skills
• Knowledge of the CICS Interdependency Analyzer tool
• Working knowledge of the zOS & CICS Explorer- Knowledge of Natural language & Adabas
• Prior Application programming experience a plus.

Pay Rate: $69-$90 per hour.
