Try-It Distributing Company is Hiring an Operations Training Supervisor Near Lancaster, NY

Summary:


THIS POSITION REQUIRES AVAILABILITY FOR 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD SHIFTS!
The OTS supervises and trains for the day-today activities related to the general warehousing and delivery of company product including but not limited to: inventory control, receipt of product, loading of product for sale and warehouse order and cleanliness. The OTS will be responsible for the training, development and the safe performance of all new and current warehouse stakeholders. The OTS performs the duties identified below:


Essential Functions (must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Has a general duty to act in accordance with the Company’s core values as well as execute all plans, assignments and/or directives assigned by the OVP. The OTS, as is the case with all Company stakeholders, is expected to represent the Company in a manner consistent with all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Employs conduct that demonstrates the high degree of value the company places on its employees, its customers and business partners.
  • Coaches subordinates and fellow stakeholders to successful outcomes through programmed training, group trainings and work-with sessions. Ensures that stakeholders’ activities are consistent with the Company core values, safety standards, Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable State, federal and local laws, including but not limited to OS&H, EEO and DOL laws.
  • Meets or exceeds agreed upon scorecard activities and goals in the areas of:
  • Occupational injury reduction
  • Employee development
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Inventory control
  • Supplier compliance
  • Facility and vehicle loss, and
  • Productivity
  • Must possess a working knowledge of OS&H laws and methods of compliance. Must demonstrate a commitment to the safety of the Company’s employees and the general public among whom our business activities take place.
  • Works with the HRD, and VPO to ensure that entire subordinate staff is properly trained and equipped to execute all safety procedures, Operational procedures, plans, budgets and goals. Establishes and/or modifies safety procedures.
  • Works with the OVP and HRD to establish and/or modify Standard Operating Procedures should the need arise to do so.
  • Performs administrative activities and data tracking associated with the effective management of operations training, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports.
  • Ensures day-to-day application of all Company OS&H policies.
  • Executes the plans, and goals assigned by OVP. Hold subordinates accountable for achievement of said plans and goals.
  • Assigns necessary work to Warehouse Personnel (WP). WS may supervise anywhere from one (1) to twenty (20) people.
  • Recognizes the successful. Counsels the unable. Disciplines the unwilling.
  • Work to Sales and Marketing counterparts to meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations relative to inventory and order fulfillment.
  • Direct all warehouse personnel activities towards the achievement of Company and Departmental goals.
  • Engage in direct training at all times necessary.
  • Work with fellow supervisors and managers to create individual development plan (IDP).
  • Hold them accountable to execute those plans.
  • Stay current with all SOP and supplier compliance requirements and ensure warehouse personnel compliance with them.
  • Weekend and night work will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. At least two (2) years related experience and/or training in warehouse or management work. Experience managing in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situation to customers, business partners, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add/subtract/multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to interpret, evaluate, understand and utilize data. Ability to build and use data and information tracking systems.
  • Computer Skills: the OTS must be able to learn and use internal company software, database software, internet software, inventory software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software and work processing software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Class A license (Or willing to obtain) all applicable OSHA training certifications including but not limited to forklift training and certification training.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to (250) pounds at one time and at regular intervals. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; common internal fumes consistent with normal traffic situations, ambient and refrigerated warehouse air, airborne particles consistent with normal ambient and outdoor conditions, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions for extended periods of time.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
