Please review the following job description:

Key contributor to the Truist second line-of-defense (LoD2) Operational Risk team responsible for independent risk oversight of Operational Risk Framework domains for multiple complex Business Units (BUs) at Truist Financial Corporation. Partner with BUs and stakeholders in assigned oversight areas, advise on risk-related topics, effectively challenge through Operational and Enterprise risk programs, and independently evaluate Operational risk in the Truist environment.

LOCATION:

Please note, effective 10/1/24, candidate will be required to be in one of the following office locations 4 days per week.

No full remote work or relocation being offered at this time.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Provide independent risk oversight (i.e., LoD2) for Operational Risk and related consult to Truist Business Units through the effective identification, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of Operational risk and other related risks (e.g., technology, compliance, reputational) within assigned BUs. Escalate key risk matters to the Head of Business Unit Operational Risk Oversight, the Chief Operational Risk Officer, and the Operational Risk Management Committee.

2. Review and challenge outcomes of first line-of-defense (LoD1) risk program execution. Monitor, review, and challenge BU risk control self-assessments, scenario analyses, loss analyses, change risk assessments, readiness assessments, key risk and performance indicators, and risk identification, monitoring and mitigation strategies. Issue Findings as warranted.

3. Attend Business Unit Risk Committees and other Risk and/or Steering Committees. Engage with Business Unit Chief Risk Officers and other key 2LOD partners (e.g., Credit, Compliance, Technology, etc.).

4. Participate in projects that have broad Operational and enterprise level impact with implications and/or resource requirements beyond risk management. Provide informal leadership to others and serves as a resource on complex solutions. Comfortable in interdisciplinary, matrix environments. Use acumen and skills to effectively bridge business and LoD2 functions seamlessly. Pivot quickly between risk advisory consultant and oversight roles.

5. Strengthen and sustain proactive risk culture through conducting effective risk focused management and partnership routines with BUs, LOD1 Governance and Control officers, and other internal partners. Interface with senior leaders and key partners across the organization. Serve as a subject matter expert and steward of the Operational Risk Framework.

6. Execute independent assessment and oversight of the adequacy of operational controls to achieve business outcomes to meet strategic and financial goals within risk appetite.

7. Monitor legal, regulatory, compliance and audit matters for assigned BU oversight area(s) and ensures timely action and monitor risk exposures, concentrations, and limits for compliance with risk appetite.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree with major in financial-related discipline (accounting, business, finance, etc.) or equivalent education and experience.

2. Fifteen years of banking or risk management experience with subject matter expertise in area of oversight. Familiarity with Operational Risk Frameworks, measurement and enterprise Governance Risk and Compliance (eGRC) platforms and tools (e.g., RSA Archer).

3. Strong business acumen / knowledge, management experience, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing and decision-making skills.

4. Experience operating independently and navigating ambiguity to deliver value.

5. Time management skills and adaptable to dynamic and complex work environment with multiple concurrent deliverables. Demonstrated ability to organize and manage complex initiatives and deliver high-quality, executive level work products.

6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating the ability to establish credibility with all levels of management effectively.

7. Comfort with data and applying analysis to derive value-add insights.

8. Adept with Microsoft Office products with strong communication and presentation skills.

9. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated skills/experience/expertise within wholesale credit space preferred

2. Audit experience.

3. Familiarity with financial services related laws, rules, regulations, and risk management standards (e.g., Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB), financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), OCC Heightened Standards, BASEL Committee on Banking Supervision, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).

4. Professional designation/certifications related to risk management or field of assigned area of oversight.
