TruHealth is Hiring a Medical Technician, TruHealth Near Augusta, GA

The Medical Technician for TruHealth will perform a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. This role will prepare specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. The technician will operate automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment and perform quality control and assurance procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

To perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Perform a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures under the supervision of medical technologists or healthcare professionals such as blood tests, urinalysis, electrocardiograms (ECGs), imaging tests, and other laboratory procedures.
  • Collect patient specimens such as blood, urine, or tissue samples, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transportation protocols are followed to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination.
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment and instruments used in diagnostic testing, including centrifuges, microscopes, spectrophotometers, and automated analyzers.
  • Calibrate equipment as necessary and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during testing.
  • Record test results accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed, results obtained, and any pertinent patient information.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and testing procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Adhere to established protocols and standards for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and medical technologists, to coordinate patient care and communicate relevant findings.
  • Provide support and assistance during medical procedures and emergencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Abide by all state-specific regulations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to minimize the risk of exposure to infectious agents and ensure a safe working environment for staff and patients.
  • Stay updated on advances in medical technology, laboratory techniques, and regulatory requirements through ongoing education and training programs.
  • Maintain professional certification and licensure as required by state regulations.
  • Follow all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
  • Maintain an established work schedule
  • Successfully complete required training
  • Handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Reliable transportation

Required Computer Software/Equipment Used:

  • Various operating systems
  • Standard office equipment
  • Microsoft Suite applications
  • Desktop, laptop and/or iPad
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Standard medical equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge/Skills:

o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.

o Proficiency in using computer systems and laboratory software for data entry and analysis.

  • Education:

o High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certificate in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience:

o One (1) year related experience

  • License/Certification:

o Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent credential from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

o Complete continuing education as required to maintain certification/licensure as applicable

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Does not have supervisory responsibilities
  • Supervisor frequently determines priorities
  • Occasionally needs manager’s direction due to extraordinary circumstances

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Audio-Visual: Good
  • Hearing: Good
  • Ability to lift to 40 pounds
  • Pathogens: Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other contagious illnesses
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Position may require flexible hours, unscheduled overtime or occasional week-end work
  • Must be able to speak and write in English
