Position: Systems Manager

Salary: Per Agreement

Job Summary:

The Systems Manager is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of all district data and wireless networks including

servers and network operating systems. Work includes planning, installing, testing, configuring, optimizing, managing,

maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading Troy School District’s existing and new enterprise data, server, storage, and

communication infrastructure. This individual will also analyze and resolve server service problems in a timely and accurate

fashion, and provide reports, documentation, and training where required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with end-
users at all skill levels
  • Proven ability to identify and diagnose problems related to computer systems, hardware/ software, and apply
preventative/corrective measure
  • Ability to research, test, and collect information on new ideas/concepts and possess a strong conceptual background
in technological issues with careful, well thoughtout implementations
  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and skills
  • Must possess excellent writing and verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Education / Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years’ experience in LAN/WAN analysis; preferred
  • Certifications related to network administration; required
  • 5 years of technical systems experience instlling, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Servers required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, repairing and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory (AD) environments required.
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting and managing DHCP and DNS required.
  • VMware experience required, VCP preferred.
  • Cisco experience desired, CCNA preferred.
  • SAN Administration required.
  • Microsoft Server.
  • Microsoft Office 365.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database support
  • Ability to be on-call for emergencies
  • Ability to work off hours or weekend as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer systems and servers related to the network for the purpose of ensuring availability of services to authorized
users.
  • Conduct research on network/server products, services, standards, and best practices for the purpose of remaining
current.
  • Assist with the coordination of network related projects (e.g. Servers, Switches, Access Points, Firewall, etc.) for the
purpose of completing designs, planning, purchasing, installation, configuration, maintenance, and testing of the
TSD data network.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain network/server administrative authorization for the purpose of having policies and
procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment problems on a timely basis: arrange for additional contractor support as needed.
  • Implement network security procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the processes and documentation for network/server managements (e.g.
asset, capacity, change, configuration, continuity, lifecycle, problem, release, vendor, and definitive media
library) for the purpose of effective processes.
  • Manage network/server services and documentation (e.g. active directory, backups, disaster recovery, DNS, IP
addressing, logical architecture, network traffic monitoring/shaping, performance statistics, physical architecture,
quality control, remote access, security, service, service records, technical training, and vendor SLAs) for the purpose
of having effective network/server operations.
  • Continually investigate new technologies and security practices for district network.
  • Support security infrastructure including Cameras, Key Fobs, & Doorbells.
  • Administer Shoretel phone system & SIP trunks
  • Assists with network/workstation policies and image development
  • Provide and promote excellent customer service onsite and remotely to all TSD network users.
  • Serve as liaison with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for the purpose of securing products, services, and
SLAs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
