The Bed Maintenance Crew Member performs the physical tasks of bed maintenance, such as weed removal and applying pesticides.

Essential Functions:

· Live by the TCLA values/morals “Purpose Driven Life”….share it

· Pull unwanted plants and weeds

· Apply mulch

· Using herbicides to remove grass and weeds in unwanted areas

· Apply pesticides (If certified)

· Submit pesticide receipts to office staff

· Trim back plants

· Apply protective coverings to plants for winter

· Remove protective coverings from plants in spring

· Wash vehicle

· Purchase herbicide chemicals

Work Environment:

The majority of the work is done outside. While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses potentially harmful chemicals. Proper safety procedures must be followed when applying or handling all chemicals. MSDS sheets are available at the TCLA office. The position regularly works outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

This position requires the use of safety equipment such as but not limited to ear protection, gloves, eye protection, etc…

Indoor work will be in an office environment or in a garage. While in the garage setting they can be exposed to loud noises, fumes and moving mechanical parts.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds of weight.

Required Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent work experience. Previous landscaping experience. Trained in State of Michigan pesticide usage and regulations. Must take continuing education credits to maintain pesticide license.

Eligibility Qualifications:

Required: State of Michigan fertilizer and pesticide license (Core)

Preferred: Chauffeur’s license, CDL License, LIC (Landscape Industry Certified)

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
