Troon is Hiring a Regional Operations Manager, Food & Beverage Near Newton, MA

Are you an experienced hospitality professional who wants to use your background, passion and knowledge to help a diverse range of foodservice businesses achieve their visions of success? Do you dream of being able to work with hospitality people and stay immersed in the industry without being tied to one location of business type? If these two questions describe you, we think we have a position that will really excite you.

We are RealFood Hospitality, Strategy & Design—a close-knit, experienced, and dedicated team of hospitality consultants working out of Newton, MA, with clients across the nation and occasionally the globe. Our work spans across all segments of foodservice, from corporate and higher education institutions to hotels, restaurants and bars. RealFood Hospitality, Strategy & Design is part of the Troon family of brands, which gives us the opportunity to work on resort and club projects the world over.

As our client portfolio grows, we are looking to add a Regional F&B Operations Manager to our team of hospitality professionals. This position leads and manages the operating teams of our RealFood Manages Properties to achieve their business goals and profitability. Your duties include directing property management teams, setting performance objectives, evaluating and optimizing operational performance, ensuring regulatory and company standards are upheld, and preparing or providing operations and/or financial reports. The ideal person for this position lives and breathes hospitality and foodservice, and wants to translate that passion and expertise into phenomenal client and staff experiences.

To help you imagine “a day in the life” in this role, here are some things you might work on:

  • Research national restaurant concepts to stay on top of industry trends and find inspiration to inform creative direction and decision making
  • Build a financial model that will dramatically increase the likelihood of success and profitability for a client who does not have a foodservice background
  • Go on-site to a client’s business to observe their operations, interview staff, and identify opportunities
  • Create menus, recipes, and costings for a client and then meet them in a tasting kitchen to make every item
  • Implement a new tech tool alongside our client-operating partner that will make their daily operations faster, easier, and more fruitful
  • Plan trainings, document standard operating procedures and systems, and partner with the on-site management team to help train the opening staff at a cool new brewery opening in an airport
  • Make deliverable materials look beautiful and branded so you can present them to ownership teams
  • Collaborate with hospitality pros on the RealFood and Troon F&B teams: brainstorming, providing support, and solving problems across our portfolio

The person who will be a good fit for, and enjoy, this role has:

  • Restaurant Operations: must have experience in managing multiple independent restaurants, ideally has experience in varied types/sizes/volumes of restaurant operations
  • Marketing Techniques
  • Extensive Financial Acumen
  • Computer skills, including implementation skills for POS, inventory, reservations, and scheduling tech systems
  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
  • A desire to learn, be humble, and absorb everything around you
  • Empathy and active listening skills, with the ability to distill large amounts of information into impactful decisions and deliverables
  • A desire to improve the hospitality industry by providing lasting and tangible value to the operators and owners you work with
  • Confidence in writing detailed, professional and easily understood materials in various formats (documents, presentations, case studies, emails, etc.)
  • The ability to speak in-person and remotely with diverse audiences and to have conversations that are not always easy
  • The skill of managing your time and your work, and of balancing multiple projects simultaneously with little oversight
  • Travel – 50% Extensive and frequent travel required, both regionally and remote. Travel may be scheduled with limited or no notice. Trips may be muti-day or longer.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a hospitality focus is a plus

Some things that make working for us pretty special:

  • Dogs at the office!
  • Competitive pay and an extensive benefits package
  • A pretty regular schedule on non-travel days. We’re talking 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday
  • Hybrid work setup (WFH and in-office days)
  • Gorgeous office for when you do want to see people. Free snacks, coffee, parking, and usually beer
  • Flexible hours and generous time off
  • Site visit and travel opportunities to some really neat places
  • Access to over 450 golf courses around the world
  • Endless opportunities for learning, from our colleagues, our partners, our clients, and our network of vendors
