Job Description/Summary: The Laundry Attendant responsibilities include but are not limited to; ensuring appropriate inventory and distribution of clean linens are available for guest rooms while maintaining high brand standards of quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure complete guest satisfaction.

  • Ensure complete guest/employee safety.

  • Must work alongside other team members in harmony.

  • Must be friendly, helpful, and well-groomed and dressed to standards always complete with name tag as stated in the employee handbook and brand standards.

  • Make a great first impression

  • Always keeps a positive attitude and greets guests with a smile at every point of contact.

  • Follows all safety guidelines.

  • Uses proper chemical handling procedures to include assurance of appropriate label on every chemical dispenser.

  • When requested, responsible for thoroughly cleaning public restroom sinks, toilets, mirrors, tiles, counters, walls, stalls, dividers, vents, and or/floors with cleaning agents by extending arms over head to reach all above areas.

  • When requested, responsible for thoroughly dusting and moving all furniture, pictures, and shelves extending arms over head, bending, and stooping as needed.

  • When requested, responsible for thoroughly cleaning and polishing all metal surfaces, base molding, and light fixtures applying pressure in repeated motion.

  • Responsible for receiving and issuing clean linens.Complete linen requests from other associates as requested.Requires extending arms overhead, bending, grasping, and lifting bulky linens weighing up to fifty pounds from shelves to carts and other locations such as washer to dryer.

  • Responsible for communicating with housekeepers and other staff members in a courteous manner to ensure smooth daily process and operation of laundry department.

  • Responsible for making sure dyers are thoroughly cleaned from debris, dust and lint to maintain safety.

  • Responsible for recording dryer vent cleaning dates/times on noted report.(See report for specific instructions)

  • Communicates with maintenance any product or maintenance opportunity that need resolved.

  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels to ensure continuous supply.Control room linen and terry and organize as directed on storage room shelves.(Shelf labels)

  • Responsible for completing inventory sheets with current counts of linens and the amount required to re-supplying to maintain par standard.

  • Responsible for discarding torn, worn, and faded linens always following established procedures and record keeping forms.(Discard log)

  • Responsible for operating washing and drying equipment and loading and unloading laundry from machines.

  • Measure and administer cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications.

  • Responsible for monitoring feeder information on washers making sure all drums are operating ONLY at a full load (with exception of daily rag load) and report any irregularities to the Assistant Housekeeper, Executive Housekeeper, Regional Housekeeping Manger, or the General Manager.

  • Responsible for setting proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen.

  • Responsible for assisting with other positions in the housekeeping department or front desk as directed by immediate supervisor or General Manager.

  • Responsible for the entire cleanliness and organization of the laundry room, laundry linen storage room and the employee break room.

  • Responsible for the cleanliness of all laundry room and employee break room equipment.

  • Responsible for keeping all equipment in proper working order (notify supervisor, Maintenance Engineer or General Manager of equipment failure or out of the ordinary operation irregularities).

  • Responsible for notifying Assistant Housekeeper, Executive Housekeeper, Regional Housekeeping Manager, or General Manager if supplies or chemicals need ordering.

  • Responsible to verify all chemicals always have a backup.

  • Assist with the monthly linen inventory process.Report physical count results to the Executive Housekeeper, Regional Housekeeping Manager, and/or General Manager.

  • When requested, responsible for vacuuming, sweeping, and/or moping of hallways, stairwells vending areas and foyers.

  • When requested, responsible for assisting room/suite attendants with removal of trash and linen from guest rooms and storage rooms throughout and at the beginning/ending of the day.

  • When requested, assist in stocking linen closets with amenities and supplies for room attendants.This may include taking supplies directly to room/suite attendants.

  • When requested, assist emptying room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash.

  • Responsible for assisting guest with questions, provide guest assistance, directions, and information as requested.

  • Responsible for reporting all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions to the Assistant Housekeeper, Executive Housekeeper, Regional Housekeeping Manger, and/or General Manager.

  • Assist in providing instruction and guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.

  • Responsible for following instructions and performing work as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

  • Must tag, bag, and deliver all found items in the employee working area to the Assistant Housekeeper or Executive Housekeeper.

  • Responsible for ensuring that quality standards and service are maintained for Property, Product and People.

  • Responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met for brand expectations.

  • Responsible for developing a critical eye for detail and perfection.

  • Responsible for follow up with guest complaints and requests.

  • Responsible for following instructions and performing work as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

  • Must have basic knowledge of sanitation requirements / controls and applications of all chemicals.

  • Must have knowledge of the brand standard policies applicable to housekeeping, especially those relating to lost and found and safety and security of guest and hotel property.

  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop and move continuously throughout the entire shift to clean all assigned areas.

  • Must be able to lift and carry boxes and equipment weighing up to 50lbs.

  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, bend reach, and move continuously.

  • Must have the ability to push, or lift heavy loads weighing up to 50 pounds as the position requires continuous transportation of laundry to and from guest rooms.

  • Must have the ability to push and/or pull wheeled racks and carts weighing up to 100 pounds.

  • Responsible for knowledge, review and training of all safety procedures as outlined in the hotel’s safety manual.

  • Responsible for reporting all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions to the Assistant Housekeeper, Executive Housekeeper, Regional Housekeeping Manager, and/or General Manager.

  • Responsible for any other duties or responsibilities at the sole digression and assigned by management.

  • In the event of an employee or guest incident or injury, the General Manager is to be notified immediately. This would also include building emergencies. If the General Manager is not located at the physical hotel location, please notify via phone. If the General Manager cannot be reached, leave a voicemail message. Immediately notify the Executive Housekeeper, Front Office Supervisor/Manager, and/or Regional Housekeeping Manager when the General Manager is unavailable. The Executive Housekeeper, Front Office Supervisor/Manager, and/or Regional Housekeeping Manager will make any necessary decisions and contact the General Manager when available.
