Job Description:

Provides operational leadership for the University's HCM Workday application services, including architecture, design and operation of the applications. Leads administrative business process initiatives involving application development, integrations, reporting functions and tools and ensures adherence to security protocols and practices. Leads complex system and process configuration, and guides the implementation of new functionality based on the needs of the University. Provides support for the day-to-day operations of Trinity's Workday Human Capital Management Systems (HCMS). Provides functional and technical guidance to all Human Resources functions and the Workday Business Analyst to support and develop end users as it relates to the utilization of Workday HCM and components. Takes ownership of end-user support through analyzing requests for system enhancements, and day-to-day help requests. Consults with key stakeholders to elicit and develop process and technical requirements. Responsible for developing and supporting the configuration, operations, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and reporting of Workday HCM.
  • Provides functional and technical support of HCMS. Serves as a primary source for Tier 3 technical troubleshooting, advice, guidance, and support to the Trinity Community in the utilization of the HCM applications. Works closely with the Workday Business Analyst and HR functional leaders to resolve Tier 1 and 2 support issues and to implement, configure, test and deploy new functionality and Workday applications. Identifies risks and issues and escalates as necessary.

  • Serves as a Workday HCM Reporting expert to provide design concepts for solutions, reports, dashboards, and analytics to align with customer requirements.

  • Researches and documents recommendations or solutions for upgrades, adoption of new functionality for new releases, improvements, issue resolution, and strategies. Evaluates and recommends the adoption of new functionality associated with Workday releases.

  • Conducts extensive system testing and User Acceptance Testing for enhancements and/or break-fixes. Supports and maintains modifications, utilities, and tools associated with the HCMS and integrated third-party vendors.

  • Collaborates with functional and technical colleagues supporting Workday Payroll/Finance and Student Information Systems on system-level cross-functional issues.

  • Collaborates with IT to develop and maintain integrations and interfaces associated within Workday HCM.

  • Consults with functional users and acts as a key contributor to influence and provide input for changes to the system. Initiates and/or contributes to the development of accurate documentation of business requirements, training materials, process narratives, and process flows.

  • Works with Project Portfolio Management Office on project planning, documentation, communication, development, training, and implementation activities as needed. Works with IT Services Department and other Departments to provide user support and systems analysis.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Five years of hands-on applications/software experience including implementations, support and administration of Workday HCM.

Preferred:

  • Advanced experience in Business Process configuration, Security and Organization Management.

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Experience in Workday Security.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • Ability to communicate well with the general public.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, vendors, and co-workers.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures, including position management.

  • Advanced understanding of departmental structure and policies with basic understanding of the cross-functional structure and policies of Trinity University.

  • Advanced ability to collaborate and get work done through others.

  • Ability to prepare and present information to vendors, end-users, and senior leaders.

Preferred:

  • Experience with formal project management methodologies.

  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma/systematic problem-solving methodologies.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Preferred:

  • Workday certification.
