Hours M-F 8:30-5:30
Wage $17.56/hr
- Must have the following certifications: radiographs, coronal polishing, and nitrous.
SUMMARY
Assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives and prepares patients for dental exam or treatment.
- Sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.
- Assists in sterilization of instruments. Maintains equipment and instruments through proper cleansing, sterilization, maintenance, and storage.
- Ensures thorough disinfection of all clinical areas and high touch points.
- Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient.
- Exposes quality dental diagnostic x-rays for patient charts.
- Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
- Pours, trims, and polishes study casts, fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations.
- Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.
- Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
- Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
- Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth as prescribed by dentist.
- Records treatment information in patient records.
- Prepares all needed equipment and/or instruments for next day’s clinic.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed Dental Assistant.
- Must be a multi-tasker.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must provide excellent customer service.
- Record treatment information in patient records.
- Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current Oklahoma Dental Assistant license from the Oklahoma State Board of Dentistry. X-ray certification required. Coronal polishing, Sealant, Nitrous certification preferred.
