Medical Assistant- Front Office with Workers' Compensation Responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Front Office Specialist with specialized knowledge in handling workers' compensation cases. The ideal candidate will excel in administrative tasks, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate proficiency in managing a diverse range of responsibilities related to front office operations and workers' compensation procedures.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Administrative Support:

  • Organize patient schedules and optimize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms.
  • Assist patients with various activities, including transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
  • Collect comprehensive patient medical histories.
  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately.
  • Perform screenings following provider guidelines.
  • Assist healthcare providers as needed, including documentation.
  • Conduct phone triage effectively.
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Communicate instructions to patients and families and answer inquiries professionally.
  • Verify prescriptions in accordance with physician orders.
  • Manage the sending and receiving of patient medical records.
  • Obtain lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information as required.
  • Complete forms and requisitions as needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently.
  • Facilitate patient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Verify insurance coverage and update patient demographics.
  • Maintain organized and complete patient charts.

Workers' Compensation Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for workers' compensation patients.
  • Collect and verify relevant workers' compensation insurance information.
  • Ensure proper documentation is obtained for workers' compensation claims.
  • Liaise with insurance companies, employers, and legal representatives as needed.
  • Coordinate appointments, treatments, and follow-ups for workers' compensation cases.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a medical front office role, preferably with exposure to workers' compensation procedures.
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Experience
