Trinity Early Learning Center is Hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher Near Bay, MI

Infant/Toddler Caregiver

Position Overview:

This Position is within a Lutheran Elementary School. The Infant Caregiver will be responsible for caring for children ages newborn to approximately 18 months, while following all regulations set by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Childcare Licensing. Caregiver will need to be available to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 6:30am-6:00pm M-F. Center is able to accommodate schedule changes around attending school and other commitments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Primary Caregiving of up to 4 specific Infants each day.
  • Knowing and carrying out your 4 children’s feeding, diapering, and sleeping schedules, according to parent’s wishes
  • Communicate with parents and teachers on children’s schedules, activities, diapering, feeding and eating, as well as developmental milestones and behavioral changes
  • Follow through on Lead teacher’s planned activities for each day
  • Communicate with incoming and outgoing staff each day to catch up on daily activities of the child.
  • Clean up the classroom area at the close of the day. Making sure tables, floors, and toys are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Basic housekeeping also necessary throughout the day (i.e., sweeping, mopping, emptying trash and disposing it in the dumpster, and cleaning tables and toys.)
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and reports related to injuries or parent communication. Maintain accurate records of milestones reached. Feeding, sleeping, activities and any behavioral changes are also tracked and sent home each day with the parents.
  • Keeping classroom organized and inviting for children to be engaged in discovery activities.
  • Maintain safe food handling
  • Maintain appropriate Hand hygiene
  • Responsible for attending meetings and trainings to equal at least 16 clock hours a year.
  • The Infant Caregiver reports to the Infant Lead Caregiver, followed by the Assistant Director and Program Director

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 18 years of age, preferably 21 years
  • Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma, CDA is preferred
  • CPR and 1st Aid certified or willing to get certified within the first 90 days of employment.
  • At least 1 year of experience caring for Infants preferred, but no experience required
  • All Candidates are required by law to undergo fingerprinting and a comprehensive back ground check.
  • All candidates must have a negative TB test within 1 year of hire.
  • Able to stand, sit on the floor and chairs for extended periods of time.
  • Candidate must be dependable, punctual, outgoing, friendly, able to communicate both verbally and in writing with children and adults, and organized,
  • Calm under pressure and very patient
  • Able to work independently, as caregiver maybe the only adult in the room depending on children’s attendance.
  • Must be available to work at least 20 hours Monday through Friday.
  • Caregiver must be of good moral character, Christian and be willing to teach and acknowledge the teachings of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church
  • Basic knowledge of computers and tablets
  • Required MiRegistry Health and Safety training upon hire and refresher each year following
  • Infant Safe Sleep training upon hire

Physical requirements

Must be able to stand or sit for 1 hours at a time

Must be capable of holding, lifting and carrying a child up to 40 pounds on a regular basis

Must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds

Job Type:

· Full-Time – 4 to 10-hour shifts, flexible schedule, Occasional evenings or weekends for meetings, family nights and trainings

Part time also available, must be able to work at least 20 hours a week

· Pay: $11-$13/ hour, based on education, training, experience and years of service.
