Summary :

The Sanitation Foreperson I supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in duties concerned with sanitation programs in food processing establishment by performing the following duties under the direction of the FSQA Manager.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Communicates directly with Production Managers to plan sanitation efforts around production needs, in accordance with the factory SSOP Plan.
  • Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.
  • Directs sanitation and production personnel in all areas of sanitation throughout the facility.
  • Directs cleaning of equipment and work areas
  • Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions
  • Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of product
  • Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies
  • Routes reports to designated plant personnel
  • Uses established guidelines to estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Performs inspections to determine adequate sanitation efforts are being made
  • Maintains and monitors sanitation chemical inventory and concentration levels of sanitizing agents being used by personnel
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment and place orders through the purchasing department as needed.
  • Train and / or arrange for training of new employees. Maintain regular schedule of training updates for all employees.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures / work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and / or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications :

Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in sanitation programs at food production facility
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the knowledge and skills required to work in a fast paced and challenging environment both inside and around the facility as well as receiving and cooling yard.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to work overnight but day and / or afternoon shifts may be required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have a basic understanding of computers and MS Office 365 Software, such as Excel, Word, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of the cGMP, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Environmental sanitation program is preferred.
  • Experience with third party regulatory agencies such as BRCGS, AIB, GFSI, SQF, FDA.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions and extreme cold.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;

outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands :

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects

  • occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
